Helen’s passion for photography started whilst studying Fine Art at University. Her final piece was a handmade enlarger capturing images she’d painted then digitalised to create acetate negatives. It sparked an interest in mixing traditional and digital mediums which drives her work today.
After years out of creative practice (not sure how to word that!) Helen undertook an A-Level in photography to rekindle her passion and learn some more traditional darkroom techniques.
Helen is now exploring images captured digitally on an SLR or even a mobile phone and taking these into the darkroom. It’s the creativity and individuality that this processing brings to an image which she finds truly fascinating.Contact Helen Hawkins
